Saturday’s Autograph Night at Jennerstown Speedway Last Chance to Tune Up for “MASTERS”

Published: August 1, 2018

(Jennerstown, PA)  Saturday night, Omega Home Improvements presents “Motor Mountain Mania” at the Jennerstown Speedway Complex, and fans can meet the drivers and touch the race cars, during a special pre-race autograph session.   More important to the competitors,  Saturday’s racing program will be the last opportunity for race teams to prepare for the biggest event in 25 years at Jennerstown; the “Motor Mountain Masters” event, on August 11th.

“Although race teams from all over the country will be traveling to Jennerstown to compete on August 11th, the ‘home track’ drivers feel confident that their expertise on this pavement, will be an advantage against the professional racers,” Speedway Promoter Mike Lysakowski pointed out.  “This Saturday night, some race teams could be experimenting with their cars just a bit, to determine the best approach to the ‘Masters’ race.”

While all five divisions of stock cars will compete, and greet the fans before the action begins on Saturday August 4th, three of the divisions have been eyeing the August 11th date since the Jennerstown schedule was released in the winter.  Offering over $53,000 in prize money, and the prestige of a national crown-jewel event, the “Masters” has been creating a buzz in the racing community for months.  The Martella’s Pharmacies Late Models, the Stoystown Auto Modifieds, and the Somerset Trust Company Fast ‘N Furious 4-Cylinders will be the three divisions competing on the agenda for the “Masters” on August 11th.  A “Test and Tune” practice night will be offered to the race teams on Friday, August 10th, and admission to fans is FREE, to watch the racers take full speed practice laps.

The year was 1994, when Jennerstown Speedway Complex last hosted a national crown-jewel event for Late Model stock cars.  The event attracted race teams from all over the Southern United States, and the Midwest.  Ohio’s Tim Ice was the winner nearly 25 years ago, and fans still talk about his epic drive.  The upcoming 150-lap “Masters” event has already drawn interest from racers based in the Southeast, as well as from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and all corners of Pennsylvania and New York.

This Saturday, August 4th, Jennerstown Speedway gates open at 4pm, with the autograph session expected to start just after 5:30pm.  Racing will begin immediately follow the autograph session, at approximately 6:30pm.  Friday, August 10th, the “Masters Test and Tune” sessions will welcome fans for free admission at 6pm.  Saturday August 11th, qualifying for the “Motor Mountain Masters” will begin at 5pm, with racing at 6pm.
