Detailed Time Schedule For Jennerstown Speedway “Masters” Released

Published: August 9, 2018

The adjusted time schedule for this weekend’s crown-jewel event, the “Motor Mountain Masters,” at Jennerstown Speedway Complex has been finalized.  Being the biggest event in 25 years at the Laurel Highlands oval track, the typical Saturday racing agenda will be slightly different, and a Friday evening pre-event party will kick off the prestigious weekend.

On Friday, August 10, race teams have been offered the chance to practice on the half mile paved surface.  Many competitors from outside of the region who are expected to enter the big event on Saturday, have never before visited Jennerstown Speedway.  This on-track testing session could be critical, to drivers from the Southeast and Midwest, who hope to make a successful debut on Saturday.   From 6pm until 10pm on Friday, racers will be stomping the gas pedal to gain some knowledge of Jennerstown, and fans will be admitted FREE to watch the testing.  In addition to the opportunity to watch these marvelous machines at full speed, a live performance by the Ethan Jano Band is on tap from 7pm until 11pm, at no charge.  Racer’s Pub, on the Jennerstown Midway will host the performance Friday night.  All of those activities are still just a prelude to the national-caliber racing event the next day.

The “Motor Mountain Masters” Saturday, August 11, agenda begins when the pit gates open at 10am.  From 12:00pm until 2:30pm more practice sessions will take to the speedway.   All three divisions of Stock Cars – the Martella's Pharmacies Late Models, Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds, and Somerset Trust Company Fast 'n Furious 4-Cylinders – will have the chance to practice.  At 5:00pm, qualifying will begin.   The Late Models and Modifieds will take individual time trials, to establish a “best time” and determine the starting order of the preliminary heat races.    At 6:00pm, the “Masters” Opening Ceremonies will officially launch the marquee event.  Racing action immediately follows the opening ceremonies, with heat races for all three divisions (eight to ten laps each).

The 4-Cylinders will compete in a 35-lap feature race – more than double the distance of a typical Saturday night feature.  The Modifieds will have a two-segment feature, of 50 laps total.  The much anticipated Late Model feature race will be 150 laps, contested in three segments.   Over $53,000 in prize money is on the line for competitors on Saturday.
