“Bigfoot” Monster Truck Team Tops Jennerstown Speedway’s Historic Night

Published: July 28, 2019

For the first time in the history of the Jennerstown Speedway Complex, The All-Star Monster Truck Tour invaded, and provided a unique form of motorsports entertainment on Saturday, July 27th, 2019.  The event, sponsored by Tri-Star Motors and presented by Myers Well Service, included three rounds of Monster Truck competition and a “Pennsylvania Rough Truck Invitational” for modified street 4x4s.  An enormous crowd was on hand for the inaugural event.

In front of a massive crowd, “Bigfoot,” the Monster Truck driven by Mike Miller, of Pacific, Missouri, launches over one of several jump ramps, temporarily erected in the infield of the Jennerstown Speedway Complex for Saturday’s “All Star Monster Truck Tour” event.

“Bigfoot,” the pioneer of Monster Truck competition, was the overall winner for the night after also claiming first place in the critically judged “Freestyle” round of action.  Driven by Pennsylvania-born Mike Miller, the Bigfoot Team secured the overall win by topping two of the three categories of action.  Miller now resides in Pacific, Missouri and narrowly defeated Dover, Delaware driver Zane Rettew aboard the “Stinger Unleashed” Monster Truck, for the top honors.   Arthur Chester, of New Providence, PA, won the Rough Truck battle, in his first ever attempt at competing on asphalt.  His “Crowd Pleaser Racing Team” Jeep typically competes on dirt surfaces at smaller fairground facilities.

A pre-race “Pit Party” allowed all fans in attendance to meet the drivers see the towering, powerful, Monster Trucks up close.  With thousands of photos taken before the competition began, fans also had a chance to purchase a ride in a Monster Truck, through the infield pit area of the track.  The demand for rides forced a post-race session as well, to offer more patrons a chance to strap into the ride-along seats, mounted in the bed of two specially equipped Monster Trucks.

Plans are already in the works for a return visit of the All-Star Monster Truck Tour to Jennerstown Speedway in 2020.  After competing on the spacious asphalt surface for the first time, the Monster Truck and Tough Truck drivers are convinced that “word of mouth” will spread through the 4x4 community, and result in more competitors next year.   All were impressed with the size, space, and smoothness of the paved battleground, and spoke overwhelmingly positive reviews.  A date for the second annual event will be announced by summer’s end, to allow fans to mark their 2020 calendars early.

Stock car racing action returns  to Jennerstown Speedway Complex this Saturday, August 3rd, as the final “tune up” for the biggest racing event of the season: the “Motor Mountain Masters,” on Saturday, August 10th.  For more information visit www.jennerstown.org.
