(Jennerstown, PA) The 2018 schedule of events at the Jennerstown Speedway Complex has already created a buzz among sports fans in the region, and among racing enthusiasts nationwide. Advance tickets for each date on the 2018 schedule are now on sale at
www.jennerstown.org, including the two new, history-making, special events. “Opening Day 2018” will occur on May 12, to launch the chase toward the championships in all five divisions of racing, during the first “Motor Mountain Mania” of the year. Each Saturday, through September 15, stock car racing will begin at 6pm, with gates opening at 4pm.
The first of two unique special events will take place on June 23, 2018, when the open-wheeled, winged, Sprint Cars return to Jennerstown Speedway Complex for only the second time, since the track was paved in 1987. The “Must See Sprint Car Series” will make its’ first ever stop in the Keystone State, for a nationally televised race. While Sprint Cars were a staple of the Jennerstown Speedway’s dirt track era in the 1960’s and 1970’s, these methanol-burning monsters last competed at Jennerstown more than 15 years ago. Fans are already eager to see the return of these exotic, lightweight, machines that produce over 700 horsepower.
On August 11, 2018, the inaugural “Motor Mountain Masters” event will shine the national motorsports spotlight on the Jennerstown Speedway Complex. The “Masters” race will bring competitors from all over the United States, to battle alongside the Jennerstown Speedway home-track kingpins for the largest prize money payout in decades. Late Model stock cars, the top division of racing at Jennerstown and many other speedways across the country, will race 150 laps for the title of “Masters Champion.” Race teams from the Northeast, the South, the Midwest, and Canada have all expressed interest in competing. Additionally, the highest payout in recent history for the Modified division cars will await the winner of a 50-lap event on the same night. Likewise, a record payout for the 4-Cylinder competitors is promised for this first running of the “Masters.”
Just like last season, the Super Cup Stock Car Series will make two visits to Jennerstown Speedway in 2018. Four “Enduro” races, for amateur competitors, are scheduled throughout 2018, as well. The biggest races of the year for the Street Stock and Charger divisions will occur, as always, on Bill Awtey Tribute night, which honors the late, Hall of Fame driver and car builder.
Each Saturday night, as part of “Motor Mountain Mania,” the Martella's Pharmacies Late Models, Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds, J&J Truck Equipment Street Stocks, Farmers Union Co-Op Chargers, Somerset Trust Company Fast 'n Furious 4-Cylinders compete on the paved, half-mile, oval. Adult general admission tickets for most events are just $10 and can be ordered online to avoid waiting in the ticket lines on raceday.
