Super Cup Stock Car Series Stops at Jennerstown Saturday

Published: July 5, 2018

(Jennerstown, PA)  Drivers from eight states are pre-registered for competition this Saturday, when the nationally touring Super Cup Stock Car Series visits Jennerstown Speedway Complex for the first time this season.  The drivers who compete regularly on the tour are growing more famous each year, thanks to the MAV-TV network, showing the Super Cup Series events on television screens all over America.  But the home-state contingent of competitors is very strong, as the series visits the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania.

Early in the Super Cup Stock Car Series history, a majority of the drivers resided in Virginia and West Virginia.  But, the exposure from racing frequently on national television has attracted race teams from the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states in recent seasons.  The Champion of the series’10th Anniversary Season (2017) was Jim Crabtree, from Muncie, Indiana.   Although eight states will be represented Saturday night at Jennerstown Speedway, the Keystone State boasts more drivers on the Super Cup roster than any other.  Veterans John Komarinski and Bill Ashton are entered for competition on Saturday, and both have won at their home track, Jennerstown Speedway, in other forms of competition over the years.  Komarinski, of Greensburg, is new to Super Cup Series racing seeking a first win on the tour, while Ashton, from Uniontown, has won a Super Cup event in front of his home-track fans at Jennerstown.   Joining them, will be 2017 Jennerstown J&J Truck Equipment Street Stock Champion Lauren Butler.  Butler plans to make her first Super Cup start Saturday night.

The familiar Pennsylvania names will race side-by-side with drivers from NC, IN, WV, VA, TX, NY, and TN.  The Super Cup Stock Car Series will participate in “time trials” at 5pm Saturday, then compete in a pair of 50-lap races, giving all entrants two separate chances to hoist the checkered flag.  Gates open at 4pm with racing at 6pm.   All five of Jennerstown Speedway’s weekly “Motor Mountain Mania” divisions will also be in action, and general admission prices for adults will remain at the regular price of just $10.
